Dear parents,
It is with
great pleasure I welcome you and your children to this new school year.
The following are the points I
presented in our initial meeting on Sep. 7, 2019.
Contents - You can check them on
the notebooks at the beginning of every two months.
Dictation – It is weekly
in English and Spanish.
Discipline – There will be
consequences for inadequate actions and behaviors.
Exams – For grammar,
science, spelling, vocabulary and listening exams will be applied and then an average will be taken as follows: Exam
40%, homework 20%, classroom work & notebooks 20%, participation 20%.
Fingernails – must be
short and without nail polish.
Habits & values –
Respect, responsibility, punctuality, honesty, etc. plus those marked each
month on the school calendar.
Homework – is due the
following day without excuses. These children are in the stage of developing
habits, so the homework is for the children, NO for the parents. We need to help
them to grow and mature, therefore homework is the responsibility of each
child. Any incomplete job is additional to the new homework.
Lunch – a nutritious one
for both breaks.
Material – The case with
the COMPLETE material is part of the
participation area mark. It will avoid interruptions while learning, example: I
do not have a pencil, I do not have a sharpener, etc, which makes the students
to loose concentration.
Presentation &
investigation – To mark HISTORY, students will have a week to
investigate and present according to their English level and creativity. On
Tuesdays will be announced who will present the following Tuesday for 2 to 3
minutes max.
Punctuality – please be on
time at the beginning and end of day; when a child arrives late disrupts
others’ concentration.
Reading – 10 minutes in
both languages EVERYDAY. Also to read
minimum a story every month.
Toys & valuables – Please do not send toys nor too may
little erasers, they cause easy distraction. We can not be responsible for toys and
valuables.
Uniform – all to be marked,
jackets, sweatshirts, etc. including shoes and running shoes for the cultural
class, since the children take them off by themselves for their activities.
